This would make certain works more valuable than others, as business reputation was important. Now, similarly, certain businesses have processes, hiring policies, or standards that allow them to sell products or services at a higher price because of the reputation of that business. Trademark law protects a business so that others may not use the same or overly similar names, logos, and symbols of the business to steal or tarnish the goodwill that the business has built.
